Harry Potter Launch
We attended the midnight Harry Potter launch party for the last book in the series. Christopher dressed up as Harry with a cape and a wand. Nicole had a cape and she made me carry her wand (too inconvenient I guess). Christopher is the one really into reading the Harry Potter series. He was quite excited to get his hands on this last book. Some may wonder why a Christian family would allow their kids to read these books about magic and witchcraft. Well, the books are well written and really are not much different from a Disney story with witches. Certainly we don't support real witchcraft. These books do bring up a good opportunity to talk to our kids about the subject. We ask questions like, "Where does magic come from?", "Is there such a thing as 'good' magic?", "What's the difference between magic and miracles?". Also, since there is so much interest worldwide with the book, it gives our kids an opportunity to talk to their friends and others about the subject.
